If you\u2019re only just discovering him, start here and grow with the band. \u201c<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div>\n<div>\u201cThe time has come, the Walrus said, to speak of many things\u2026\u201d \u00a0I told you how we fought valiantly to get the rights back on the original Beserkley recordings, I described the years of sweat and toil- I swear it made an afternoon at the DMV look like a day at the beach. \u00a0We (my manager Joel Turtle and I) put forth a mighty effort and low and behold we got our stuff back and the first thing we did was put of the \u201cBest of Beserkely\u201d compilation. \u00a0I said that we would release the albums one by one in chronological order, until the entire Greg Kihn catalogue was once again in print and vindication had been achieved.<\/div>\n<div>Well, guess what? \u00a0It\u2019s time to begin the beguine (Cole Porter reference!)<\/div>\n<div>Today I started by releasing my very first album GREG KIHN. \u00a0The year was 1976 and I had just started putting the band together. \u00a0As a matter of fact, the band at that point was a work in progress. \u00a0We still hadn\u2019t found a full time guitarist. \u00a0Robbie Dunbar from Earthquake was playing with us which created a little tension in the Beserkely family. \u00a0After all, Earthquake was the franchise back then. \u00a0This album contains some really interesting stuff. \u00a0ANY OTHER WOMAN was a taste of things to come and its full-bodied rock arrangement complete with guitar solo which would become the blueprint for GKB songs for the next decade.<\/div>\n<div>Steve Wright and Larry Lynch were already locked in on bass and drums. \u00a0John Doukas, lead singer of Earthquake sang a duet with me on \u201cHe Will Break Your Heart.\u201d \u00a0We recorded it at the old CBS studios on Folsom Street in San Francisco. \u00a0I remember how puny our equipment looked set up in the corner of the gymnasium-sized room. \u00a0It was intimidating but we didn\u2019t care, we were just pumped to be in a real recording studio. \u00a0We got it for the cheapest rates after hours, so we worked all night. \u00a0Matt Kaufman produced. \u00a0Glen Kolodkin was the only one there who knew what he was doing. \u00a0Thank God he engineered it because no one else had a clue.<\/div>\n<div>GREG KIHN is primitive, but that\u2019s why I love it. \u00a0It has been out of print since the early Paleozoic Era. \u00a0The cover photo was shot in front of Rather Ripped Records in Berkeley where I worked at the counter with Gary Phillips (of Earthquake) for a day job. \u00a0In fact, I was on my break when we shot the cover! \u00a0We recorded the whole album in a few nights and mixed it in a matter of hours. \u00a0That\u2019s rock and roll, man. \u00a0You had to be there. \u00a0It was great!<\/div>\n<div>It will be followed by GREG KIHN AGAIN.<\/div>\n<h1><a href=\"http:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/album\/greg-kihn\/id553242686\" target=\"_blank\">Buy Greg Kihn on Apple iTunes.<\/a><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/embed.spotify.com\/?uri=spotify%3Aalbum%3A0N0XAZ56WGAqhIwkv4Rrcq\" width=\"300\" height=\"380\" frameborder=\"0\" allowtransparency=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Apple iTunes Review &#8211; \u201cThis record has it all: good songs (mostly written by Kihn) with strong vocals and tight harmonies.
