Greg Kihn Band Performing October 6th with Scandal and Berlin in Arizona

The next Greg Kihn Band gig is coming up.  We are playing at the Cliff Castle Casino- Stargazer in Arizona with Patty Smythe & Scandal and Berlin featuring Terri Nunn.  The date is October 6- the same date as my induction into the Bay Area Radio Hall Of Fame.  Ironic, isn’t it?  Nothing happens for months then everything happens on the same day!  Here’s the kicker, I got ANOTHER gig offer for that same day, which I had to turn down.   Damn!  I could’ve used the money!  We will be rehearsing for this one, trying to come up with a new wrinkle of two.  When you’ve played thousands of gigs like the GKB, you get to the point where you want to make each one special.  So, I’ll be tinkering with the set list and maybe throw something new in.    Dave Medd, our usual keyboard player is back from Europe where he was touring with the Tubes and he’s ready to rock.  Of course, the rest of the band is intact- Ry, Dave, Robert, and me.  We play so infrequently that each gig is unique and I look forward to them like blind dates with girls I know aren’t going to be very pretty but with whom I know I’ll have a good time.  Does that make sense?  I always avoided blind dates when I was a kid, unless my parents made me take the friend of a cousin to a high school dance.  Yes, that actually happened!  She was at least one foot taller than me!  Ouch!

Who knows anything about Patty Smythe or Terri Nunn?  It’s been decades.  The last time I worked with Scandal was on Grad Night at Disneyland back in the 80′s.  I haven’t seen either one of these groups in ages.  Still, it’s an interesting bill, don’t you think?  If you can make it up there I think it will be a lot of fun.  That’s why I’m giving you tons of advance notice.  You have to fly to Phoenix and then drive about an hour north.  I don’t know if it’s in the middle of nowhere but I never heard of it or the town it’s in, so that might be a clue.
